Batting Cages
The other interns and I started to put up new batting cages in the front of the complex. The other nets at the cages were getting old and worn out, so we took them down, received new L-Screens and new nets and placed them on four of the eight cages, This was a learning process because I had never done it before and the weather was not the greatest. In sports, however, you need to adjust to your climate. Restaurant My second project was moving around the restaurant. It involved changing prices and products in the restaurant to match their updated menu. In my time there we also changed around the registers and other equipment to make it easier for the customers to wait in line and not have two lines overlapping. It also reduced the traffic of the order area. Customers could make lines around the registers and others could sit and enjoy ESPN playing on the television at the opposite side of the building. Advertisements on Outfield Walls The next project took place in a couple of weeks leading up to the very busy season. Another intern and I worked directly with the General Manager in taking down and putting up old and new advertisements on the outfield walls of all the fields (nine). They were of their sponsors such as Under Armour, Gatorade, Wendy's, and even the local University, Coastal Carolina. It was important to get these old signs out and new signs in because it reflects on the complex and the sponsors. Also, when the signs look good, the field will as well Grounds Work (Lining Turf and Dirt Boxes) This project was interesting for me because I have done grounds work for the last four years at the Catawba Island Club Golf Course in Port Clinton Ohio. When I came in and they told me I had to do grounds work, I expected it to be very easy seeing as I had probably already done it. Little did i know it was a totally different type of grounds work. We were lining fields and even painting turf. There was even a day where we had to dig up part of the mound because it was oversaturated all the way to the cement. Lining the fields is very different, but necessary after every game. |
